Iceland Fundraising Hike, 24th August to 10th September
The AFA in its endeavor to create fundraising and marketing opportunities for potential sponsors are able to confirm the committment of three key members whom have contributed to the success of the AFA to date. They are Stuart Miller, Academy Director, Dr. Jason Suter, Medical Officer, and Simon Osborne, Legal Advisor.
In August of 2008 the three members will commit themselves to a 330km hike across the interior of Iceland from North to South, at the beginning of the Icelandic Winter. Details of this trip will be posted soon along with sponsoring opportunities for individuals and company's. A webpage dedicated to the trip will be placed on the AFA website.
Developing Collaboration
The management of the AFA would like to welcome a new collaborating organisation, CoachesColleague.com, who have expressed an interest in helping the AFA to establish itself as an organisation of excellence in the arena of sport development. Our developing relationship will allow the AFA to fulfill its mandate to the youth and sporting fraternity of Soweto. CoachesColleague is a comprehensive coaching website that provides ideas, advice and information on every aspect of the coaching process. Its aim is to assist football (soccer) coaches in the modern era develop their own knowledge and understanding in order to to provide their players with a correct and thorough education.
The ever expanding site currently contains over 1600 pages, across 10 unique sections, so regardless of experience, level of involvement or the qualifications gained every coach will find this site a valuable addition to their coaching resources.

The management of the AFA would like to warm heartedly welcome a new sponsor to our house. Angle Orange have expressed a keen interest in helping the AFA to establish itself as an organisation of excellence in the arena of sport development. They have graciously come on board in a number of capacities that will allow the AFA to fulfill its mandate to the residents and children of Soweto.
The United Soccer Academy has confirmed its committment to aiding development and furthing the relationship with the AFA. For the 2007/8 season, they have committed themselves to the donation of soccer balls. For this we like to sincerely thank Mr. Craig Rosindale of United Soccer Academy for his continued assistance.
Amathole management recently received a kind donation from the Brandywine Youth Club soccer players and parents. We would like to thank each and every parent and player whole-heartedly for their donations of playing shirts and shorts. They will make a welcome edition and serve a greater purpose of emergency kit for teams within Soweto that require them from time to time, until they finally find a deserved home.
Current Sponsorship
During the AFA's inaugural season fruitful relationships with commercial institutions as well as local businesses were developed. Once again the AFA's IT partner, Obsidian, have reafirmed their committment to development projects initiated by the AFA through the computer education centre.
2007 Sponsorship
The AFA would like to thank with the greatest gratitude for their commitment to sport development, the Mr Price Group. As kit sponsors for 2007 they have shown tremendous commitment to development through a number of avenues that have facilitated player trials at other more established academies and the initiation of the kit manufacturing project.
The AFA Head of library services would like to acknowledge the kind donation of a special issue of the Journal of Sports Sciences from the publishing house Taylor and Francis in the UK. We hope to be able to develop the library services for the training of South Africa's sports coaches from all sporting disciplines.
The Academy has been expanding its objectives to tertiary educational institutions like Wits University to facilitate the educational requirements for the players. A number of collaborations with different departments are currently being finalised or negotiated.
