The AFA will update the times, dates and venues of upcoming skills development workshops on this page. The workshops are for interested coaches from all sporting disciplines and other interested individuals, resident in the greater Soweto region of Johannesburg.

Welcome to the Soweto Football Academy website. Here you can find out more about who we are, what we do, how we do it and most importantly, why? The cow is an important symbol in Africa and goes by many names, such as Amathole, which is isiZulu for young bulls. We have chosen this as our symbol for Affrica's youth because it highlights their importance as a symbol of our heritage and our future wealth.

Fundraising Objectives

If you would like your donation to be used for a specific activity from the list below, please advise us of your contribution and its directed intention, by forwarding an email to our administrator at amathole@fastmail.fm so that we can acknowledge and monitor your donation.

The Academy has been based in Soweto, Johannesburg since September 2005. We are a feeder for the broader community of Soweto and its surrounds offering the opportunity for dedicated youth players to access excellence training for their further development. Our most important event to date is the upcoming fundraising hike across Iceland. Through this medium we hope to raise enough money to develop the AFA's numerous projects into operating mechanisms for development. They include the 'Players Education', 'Adult IT Literacy', 'Women's and Disabled Sport Development' and 'Administrative and Medical' programmes. Each of these areas has been identified as lacking the necessary resources for effective functioning in Soweto.

Amathole provides professional social investment services to the South African corporate sector. We will soon also enable individuals and family trusts to give easily and quickly online.

We help potential givers to become highly effective social investors by consulting with them on their strategic design, implementation and management of CSI programmes. We also assist with sponsorship and CSI policy documents and are able to provide externally generated research reports on the impact of their investment with an effective project monitoring and evaluation process.
