The SAFA Soweto Super-Leagues were launched for 2008 as SAFA Soweto's commitment to developing strong competitive leagues for the future development of SA Football and Soweto Football more specifically, with a number of the local Soweto teams playing in leagues hosting teams such as Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs, Moroka Swallows, Supersport United, and Platinum Stars amongst others.
